The owner of a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 5600 Harford Road in the Hamilton area of Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 4th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Hyundai Santa Fe. When the officer was unable to locate the Hyundai a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai Santa Fe.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Hyundai to the area of 2100 Fleetwood Avenue in Baltimore City. At this location officers observed the Hyundai parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Hyundai was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe in October 2011 at Antwerpen Hyundai in Baltimore, Maryland.
