The owner of the Honda Civic, who lives in New Jersey, was visiting his father, who lives in Harlem, New York, parked his car in front of his father’s house. When he came out for the Honda the next day he found it missing. He then realized he has a push button starter and he had left the key fob in the center console. Apparently some miscreant got into his Honda, just pushed the button and to his surprise the car started right up. This was in Harlem, confines of the 32 precinct. He immediately called the New York Police Department of the 32 precinct. The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Civic.

A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by the 114 precinct police officers on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) in their vehicle. This was in the Jackson Heights section of Queens confines of the 114precinct and they tracked it to a residential area of Queens. There they found the Civic on a residential street. They staked the Civic out for a short while and when no came for it they took the vehicle into custody.

The owner was contacted and he was elated that his Civic was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. He further stated that he was happy that when he bought the Civic it was equipped with the LoJack® System because she knew that if it wasn’t for LoJack the vehicle may never have been recovered at all. He further stated that he has an ignition lock on his vehicle that once the car is started it takes a picture of the operator; hopefully this will help the detectives identify the person or persons who stole his Civic.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Honda Civic in April 2014 at Hudson Honda in Poughkeepsie, New York.
