The owner of the Toyota Rav4 parked by her house while she ran in for a minute to get something. Unfortunately she left the keys in the ignition with the motor running. Just then her husband was coming home with their other vehicle, he saw two males enter his wife’s Toyota and start to drive off with it. He ran up to the Toyota and attempted to stop them but they just gunned the engine and knocked him to the ground, injuring his shoulder as they drove off with the vehicle. This was in East New York confines of the 75 precinct. He immediately called the New York Police Department of the 75 precinct. The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Rav4.

A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by the 75 precinct NYPD officers on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) in their vehicle. This was also in the East New York section of Brooklyn confines of the 75precinct. They tracked the signal to a large housing complex where the signal appeared to be coming from a large indoor parking lot. They tracked the signal to the 2nd floor of the parking lot; there they found the Toyota parked in a space; somewhere the police license plate reader cars would not go nor be able to read the plate in the position the vehicle was parked in. They staked the Toyota out for a short while and when no one came for it they took the vehicle into custody. The Toyota was recovered with no damage.

The owner was contacted and she was elated that her Toyota was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. She stated that she was happy that when she bought the Toyota she also purchased the LoJack® System with it. She further stated that she bought the Toyota so long ago she didn’t think the LoJack would still be working. She went on to say that when she purchases another vehicle she will also purchase a LoJack® System again. She also stated that if it weren’t for LoJack her Toyota may never have been recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Toyota Rav4 in April 2008 at Plaza Auto Mall in Brooklyn, New York.
