The owner of a 2001 Cadillac Deville called the Chicago Police Department to report his vehicle had been stolen from in front of his residence in the 8000 block of south Kenwood Ave in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac.

Shortly after the Cadillac was activated a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Cadillac in Chicago’s Jackson Park near 63rd and Marquette Drive. The stolen Cadillac was observed and followed as its location was called in to the Chicago PD. The stolen Cadillac became aware it was under surveillance, sped away and was lost in traffic. The Cook County / Chicago PD helicopter equipped with a PTC flew over the area and the LoJack signal was reacquired. The stolen Cadillac was found in an alley abandoned in the 8000 block of Cottage Grove Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood. A description of the two occupants was obtained by the Chicago PD and property recovered in the Cadillac led to the suspected identity of one offender. Police investigation into this vehicle theft continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this 2001 Cadillac Deville had his vehicle recovered shortly after it was entered as stolen. The Cadillac was recovered before it could be damaged, stripped, cloned, re-tagged or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Deville in January 2008 at McGrath Lexus of Westmont in Illinois.
