The owners of a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from their used car lot overnight located near I-10.

The Jefferson Parish SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Malibu.

90 minutes later troopers from the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Chevrolet to a residential area in old Metairie. The Chevrolet was located parked on the street unoccupied in great shape.

The owners were contacted and the Chevrolet was returned to them in just a couple hours after being reported stolen.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Malibu in September 2007 at Lakeside Toyota in Metairie, Louisiana.
