The owner of a 1999 Honda Civic awoke and discovered their car missing. They contacted the Mount Dora Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Immediately upon activation, while on routine patrol, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Civic on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles and aircraft. The trooper began tracking the stolen Honda by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The trooper, along with their backup, located the 4-door sedan at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Long Street in Orlando, just blocks away from State Road 408 and on the east side of Sunset Lake. The Honda was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1999 Honda Civic in August 1999 at Maroone Honda of Hollywood in Florida.
