The owner of a 1993 Dodge Ram van called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the Dodge was stolen from his residence in the area of Unser and Arenal. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Shortly after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officers tracked the van to the area of Bridge and Atrisco where it pulled into a driveway. The driver immediately exited the van and took off running on foot. Officers set up a perimeter to search for the driver and recover the van. After a short foot chase the offender was taken into custody. The offender was booked for the current auto theft charges and outstanding warrants for previous auto theft charges. The van was processed for evidence and towed from the scene for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Ram in July 1993 at Downey Dodge in California.
