The owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the Silverado and another vehicle were stolen from his residence in the area of Ladera and 98th Street. The owner advised that each vehicle had keys to the other and the offenders must have located both sets of keys and took both vehicles. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Silverado.

Within a short time after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Silverado with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officers tracked the Silverado to the area of 12th Street and Pastura where the offender had taken off on foot. A perimeter was set up and K9 officers were called to conduct a search for the offender. After an extensive search it appeared the offender was able to elude capture.

The Silverado was processed for evidence and the owner was notified of the recovery. The owner responded to the scene and took possession of his Silverado.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado in November 2015 at Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
