The owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the Malibu was dropped off at a local dealership for service. While the vehicle was at the dealership unknown offenders absconded with the Malibu without permission. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Malibu.

Within a short time after the activation, an auto theft detective with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Malibu with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol and undercover vehicles. The detective tracked the Malibu to the area of 12th Street and Griegos where it was located in a dirt lot and unoccupied. The Malibu was processed for evidence and released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Malibu in February 2016 at Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
