The owner of a 2004 GMC Yukon called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the GMC was stolen from the area of Indian School and Louisiana. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC Yukon.

Within 30 minutes after the activation, a deputy with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yukon with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. They tracked the Yukon to the area of Blake and Coors in a residential neighborhood. The Yukon was located in a yard and it appeared the offenders were beginning to strip the vehicle. Due to the quick recovery the offenders were not able to complete the stripping.

While on scene, deputies located a stolen Ford truck parked on the street. The Ford truck was not equipped with LoJack. This case is being investigated by both the Albuquerque PD and the Bernalillo County SO.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Yukon in November 2009 via Direct Sales in Colorado.
