The owners of a 2006 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Los Angeles Police Department 77th St Division to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Tacoma.

A short while later officers from the LAPD Newton Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the y tracked the Toyota to the area of 50th St and Broadway and saw the stolen Toyota headed towards their vehicle.  They confirmed the stolen and description as they passed.  The Toyota turned southbound on to Broadway, subsequently stopped and parked.  The officers arrived and saw the Toyota was unoccupied but noticed a suspect matching the driver sitting on the porch of a residence.  Witnesses identified this suspect as the driver at which time he was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was booked for the theft at the 77th St Jail. The undamaged Toyota was released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in January 2006 at Mossy Toyota in San Diego, California.
