The owner of this Toyota Corolla contacted the Madera Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Madera PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

About one hour later, a deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Toyota, which was picked up by LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked and located the Toyota in the driveway of a vacant residence near Belmont and Peach Avenues in southeast Fresno. The Toyota was found unoccupied and abandoned in the driveway. The deputy determined that the Toyota had been “cold plated” with the license plate from another vehicle, commonly done by thieves to disguise the fact that the vehicle is stolen. The Toyota was recovered intact and undamaged; released to the owner at the recovery location.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in April 2015 by Madera Chevrolet Toyota in California.
