The owners of a 2001 Mercedes E430 contacted the New Bedford Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The New Bedford PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

Seven minutes later troopers from Bourne Barracks of the Massachusetts State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes using the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to a commercial section Wareham and located the unoccupied stolen vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes E430 in August 2001 at Helms Brothers Mercedes Benz of Flushing in New York.
