The owners of a Subaru Impreza contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action on the part of law enforcement automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Subaru.

Less than two hours later officers with the Aurora Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Subaru with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTCs these officers tracked and located the stolen Impreza in the 14000 block of East Evans, which is over 75-miles from the theft location. The Subaru was impounded for investigation and members of the CMATT auto theft task force followed through with the investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Subaru Impreza in March 2005 at Tacoma Subaru in Washington.
