The owner of a 1999 Plymouth Prowler contacted the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 6200 Horton Lane in Spotsylvania County. The Spotsylvania County SD Radio dispatched a deputy to investigate the incident. The deputy quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Plymouth Prowler. When the deputy was unable to locate the Prowler a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The deputy then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Plymouth Prowler.

A short while later, deputies from the Spotsylvania County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Plymouth Prowler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Prowler to the area of 1300 Augustine Avenue in Fredericksburg. At this location deputies located the Prowler being operated by the theft suspect. Deputies performed a felony vehicle stop and placed the suspect under arrest. The undamaged Prowler was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1999 Plymouth Prowler in July 1998 at Autoland in Springfield, New Jersey.
