The owner of a 2016 Land Rover Range Rover contacted the Delray Beach Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The owner advised the responding officer that they parked the SUV in their driveway. The next morning they awoke, attempted to use the Land Rover and discovered the vehicle missing. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover. The owner advised the officer that they keep one key with them and leaves a key to the vehicle in the center console of the Land Rover. They also advised that the Land Rover not only had LoJack installed in it but had a GPS application as well. The owner gave the officer the location that the application reported. The officer requested that the Broward Sheriff’s Office drive by that location.

Later in the day, while on routine patrol, a Pembroke Pines Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Range Rover on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officer began tracking the stolen Land Rover by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen from Douglas Road and Pines Boulevard. The officer, along with their backup, located the sport utility vehicle parked abandoned in an apartment complex parking lot in the 8900 block of Palm Tree Lane. The SUV was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping. Apparently the BSO drive-by met with negative results as the Land Rover was recovered by the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System installed in the vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover in March 2017 at Land Rover Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
