The owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked their car in front of their home. The next morning they awoke, went outside their home and discovered their Impala missing. They contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report their Impala stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Within minutes of activation while on routine patrol, a Miami-Dade PD officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Impala on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officer began tracking the stolen Impala by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the 4-door sedan abandoned in the 7000 block of NW 27th Avenue. The Impala was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Chevrolet Impala in June 2007 at Dale Spradley Chevrolet Inc. in Pueblo, Colorado.
