The owner of a BMW X3 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within 30 minutes, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the BMW to 70th Street and Amherst Street in San Diego.  A traffic stop was conducted and two suspects were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW X3 in May 2004 at Cunningham BMW in El Cajon, California.
