The owners of a Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet convertible contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen with the keys after watching the unknown suspect drive off with the vehicle.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes-Benz.

Three minutes later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes-Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the area of 7th Avenue and Indian School Road, just a couple miles from the theft location.

The officers located the stolen Mercedes-Benz occupied and conducted a high risk felony stop.  The driver complied and two suspects were detained without incident.  The driver was later arrested and booked for the vehicle theft.  The Mercedes-Benz was recovered in good condition and released to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet in October 2003 at Audi of Chandler in Arizona.
