The owner of a Mercedes-Benz S500 contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen with the keys from the residence by a female acquaintance, while he was asleep.

The Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes-Benz.

Thirty minutes later, officers from the Mesa PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the area of Country Club Drive and Hampton Avenue in Mesa.

The Mesa PD officers located the stolen Mercedes in the parking lot of a motel and set up surveillance.  Officers were able to locate and arrest the female suspect without incident.  The suspect had prior arrests in other states for auto theft.  The Mercedes was recovered in good condition and returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes-Benz S500 in October 2004 at Tempe Honda in Arizona.
