The owner of a 2016 BMW X5 called the Jersey City Police Department to report that sometime after midnight someone had stolen their vehicle from in front of their residence in Jersey City.

The Jersey City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW X5.

A short while later, officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to North 17th Street and Eaton Place in the City of East Orange. The BMW was located parked and recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 BMW X5 in May 2014 at Morristown BMW in New Jersey.
