The owner of a Volvo S80 contacted the Escondido Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Escondido.

The Escondido PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volvo.

Within a short time, officers from the Escondido PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volvo with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Volvo near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Danica Place in Escondido.  The suspect was identified and located near the scene with the keys to the Volvo in his pant pockets.  He was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volvo S80 in January 2004 at Broadway Volvo in Tucson, Arizona.
