The owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima contacted the Cicero Police Department to report that his vehicle had been taken from in front of his residence in Cicero, a western suburb of Chicago.  The Cicero PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Ninety minutes after the Nissan was activated a Chicago Police Department unit from Chicago’s auto theft unit equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Nissan.  The Chicago PD following the signal from the stolen Honda tracked the vehicle to the 3100 block of West Taylor Street in Chicago’s Homan Square neighborhood.  The stolen Nissan Altima was recovered parked and unoccupied in an empty lot with the plates removed.  The Chicago PD recovered the stolen Nissan and towed it for Cicero PD for processing.  Police investigation into this auto theft continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this Nissan had his vehicle recovered less than two hours after it was entered as stolen. The Nissan was recovered before it could be damaged, stripped, cloned, re-tagged or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in January 2008 at Barry’s Dartmouth Nissan in Massachusetts.
