The owners of a 2016 Dodge Dart contacted the Redding Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated that sometime during the night the Dodge Dart was stolen from in front of their residence.

The Redding PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

A short while later and approximately 75 miles away, officers from both the Chico Police Department and the Butte County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Dodge to the parking lot of a home improvement store in the city of Chico. The deputies observed the Dodge parked and occupied by two suspects. The deputies conducted a high profile approach and took the two into custody without incident.

After questioning the suspects were arrested for auto theft and receiving stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Dart in January 2017 at Crown Motors in Redding, California.
