The owner of a 2006 Mercedes Benz R500 contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during an armed carjacking from the area of 5200 Wilton Heights Avenue in Baltimore City.  The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 6th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Mercedes. When the officer was unable to locate the Mercedes a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz R500.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the area of 4800 Reisterstown Road in the northwestern area of Baltimore City. At this location officers located the Mercedes parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Mercedes was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Mercedes Benz R500 in September 2009 at Mercedes Benz of Tysons Corner in Vienna, Virginia.
