The owner of a 2008 Hyundai Elantra called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The Hyundai was stolen from the area of Carlisle and Central. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai.
Within a short time after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD, Bosque Farms Police Department and flight deputies in the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, Metro-1, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Hyundai was tracked to the area of New York and Central by Metro-1 directed the ground units into the area. The Hyundai was located in the parking lot of a motel and was found to be unoccupied. The Hyundai was recovered at the scene and will be returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Elantra in July 2008 at Spradley Chevrolet Inc. in Pueblo, Colorado.
