The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Trax called the Albuquerque Police Department and the LoJack Call Center to report the vehicle was stolen as a result of an armed carjacking.  The victim advised she was in the parking lot of her apartment complex unloading groceries when the male offender pointed a gun at her and took off in the Chevrolet.  This occurred in the area of Eubank and Southern in the Foothills Area Command.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Shortly after the activation, a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet.  The Chevrolet was mobile when initially located in the Valley Area Command.  The Chevrolet drove through the Northeast and Southeast Area Commands where it finally stopped at an apartment complex in the area of Cardenas and Eastern.  The offender parked, locked the Chevrolet and left the area on foot before the marked units arrived on scene.

The Chevrolet was recovered and processed for evidence.  The owner was notified of the recovery, responded to the scene and took possession of her Chevrolet.  The owner advised officers that she forgot her Chevrolet was equipped with LoJack until she found her LoJack paperwork after the theft.  The owner also thanked the officers for recovering her Chevrolet so quickly.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Trax in June 2015 at Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
