The owners of a 2008 Toyota Prius contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their company parking lot.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Eight minutes later, the air unit and officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to area of 19th Avenue and Elm Street, approximately nine miles from the theft location.

The Toyota was located in the parking lot of an apartment complex.  One suspect was observed with the Toyota and detained without incident.  The suspect had the keys to the Toyota.   The male juvenile suspect was arrested for the theft.  The Toyota was recovered in good condition and returned to owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Prius in April 2008 at AutoNation Toyota Tempe in Arizona.
