LoJack System Helps Miami Police Department Recover a Stolen 2011 Nissan Rogue

The owner of a 2011 Nissan Rogue discovered their car missing from in front of their home. They contacted the Homestead Police Department to report their Nissan stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Within minutes of activation while on routine patrol, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Rogue on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Simultaneously officers from the Miami Gardens and Miami Police Departments picked up the stolen Nissan’s signal as well. The officers began tracking the stolen Nissan by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The officers located the sport utility vehicle abandoned and parked in the 2200 block of NW 24th Avenue, Miami. The SUV was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Nissan Rogue in December 2010 at AutoNation Nissan Kendall in Perrine, Florida.
