The owner of a 2003 Toyota Matrix called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen from their used car dealership.  The Toyota went out on a test drive and the “customer” never returned the Toyota.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Within a short time after the activation, the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Sergeant and Detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their undercover vehicles.  The Toyota was tracked to a residential neighborhood in the area of 13th and Lomas.  The Toyota was parked in front of a residence and was unoccupied.  The Auto Theft Unit recovered the Toyota and notified the dealership of the recovery.  The dealership recovered their Toyota at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Matrix in September 2002 at Expressway Motors in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
