This Jeep Wrangler was parked at the curb in front of the owners residence located in the 400 block of North 5th Street in Tacoma.  The Jeep was taken sometime during the night.

When the theft was discovered the next morning, it was reported to the Tacoma Police Department who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

Just eight minutes later, a Washington State Patrol Cessna aircraft, equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), was flying over Tacoma and received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep.  The pilots relayed the location information to the Tacoma PD.  An officer, who was also equipped with a PTC, responded to the area where the WSP Cessna located the Jeep.  The officer easily found the Jeep in the 5600 block of South “J” Street.  The Jeep was abandoned.

There was damage to the door lock, a shaved key stuck in the ignition and the stereo had been removed.  The Jeep was returned to the owner who purchased it as a used car.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in May 2015 at Marysville Ford in Washington.
