The owner of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.
The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Within 6 minutes, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the 7100 block of Broadway Avenue in the city of Lemon Grove. A traffic stop was made; two female suspects were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in May 2007 at Toyota of Chula Vista in California.
