The owner of a 2007 BMW 525 called the Gallup Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen from their residence.  The Gallup PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Just six minutes after the activation and nearly 140 miles away, the Albuquerque Police Department flight officers in Air-5 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles, undercover vehicles and aircraft.  The BMW was tracked to a residential neighborhood in the Southeast Area Command.  Ground units, patrol and auto theft, were directed into the area and tracked the BMW to the intersection of Bell and Alvarado.  The BMW was found to be unoccupied and parked along the curb.

The BWM was processed for evidence and subsequently towed from the scene for safekeeping.  The BMW owner was notified of the recovery and where it was towed to.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 525 in April 2006 at BMW of Escondido in California.
