The owner of the Toyota Camry parked it where he normally parks it on the street where he lives. This was in the University Heights section of the Bronx, confines of the 44 precinct. When he went out for the Toyota the next day he found it missing and immediately called the New York Police Department of the 44 precinct. When the police responded they took a written report for the theft. The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.

A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by officers of the Bronx Auto Larceny Unit. They tracked the signal through various streets of the Bronx; eventually locating the Toyota that was parked. The officers immediately took up a position and placed the Toyota under observation. After a short while when no one came for the Toyota, the officers took it into custody. The Toyota was recovered without any damage.

The owner was contacted and notified of the recovery. He was elated that his Toyota was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2003 Toyota Camry in April 2006 at Toyota of Manhattan in New York.
