The owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette contacted the Frisco Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. A suspect went into a car dealership and agreed to buy this Chevrolet Corvette. He paid with a cashier’s check and drove off in the Corvette. Later the car dealership determined that the cashier’s check was fraudulent.

The Frisco PD verified the fraudulent purchase and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Corvette.

Arrest Warrant Pending

Forty minutes later, officers from the Garland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corvette with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Corvette to the 4700 block of Orchard Ridge Dr. Officers were able to determine that the stolen Corvette was inside a garage that was attached to a house. The officers contacted the owner of the house who gave them consent to look inside her garage. Inside the garage officers found this stolen Corvette. The owner of the house stated that her boyfriend parked the stolen Corvette in her garage and that he buys and sells cars all the time. This is an ongoing investigation and an arrest warrant is pending. The Corvette was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Corvette in October 2009 at CarMax in Raleigh, North Carolina.
