The owner of a 2016 Mazda CX-5 called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

Shortly after the activation, a deputy with the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office was on his way home after his shift and picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  The deputy made contact with the Albuquerque PD and advised he was tracking the stolen Mazda.  An Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Detective assisted the Santa Fe SO deputy and following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the deputy and the detective tracked the Mazda to a residential neighborhood in the area of Tramway and Comanche.  The Mazda was recovered and will be returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mazda CX-5 in November 2016 at University Motors Mazda and Volkswagen in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
