The owners of a 2017 Ford F250 contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was rented out and had not been returned. A demand letter was sent to the person who leased the Ford, as required by Texas State Statute, and when it was not returned they filed the theft report.  The Montgomery County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to a restaurant parking lot on FM1960 where the vehicle was parked and abandoned. Deputies searched the area for possible suspects with negative results. The customer was called to the location and the Ford was released to them.
