The owner of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen from their residence.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

Flight officers with the Albuquerque PD’s Air-5 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Detectives and officers in the field also picked up the LoJack signal and were directed by the flight crew to the area of San Pedro and Gibson.  The Jeep was located in an apartment complex parking space backed in and abandoned.

The owner was notified of the Jeep’s recovery and her son came to the scene to take possession of the Jeep.  The son believed his mom unknowingly left a spare key inside of the Jeep.  The son took the Jeep home and immediately parked it inside of their garage until they can re-key the Jeep to prevent the offenders from taking it again.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in August 2016 at University Motors Volkswagen and Mazda in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
