LoJack System Helps Pinal County Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Ford F250

The owners of a 2001 Ford F250 contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their pickup had been stolen without the keys. The owners had secured the Ford in the parking lot of a bookstore. When they came out three hours later the Ford was missing.
The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
A short while later deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to the Francisco Grande area in Pinal County.
The deputies located the stolen Ford unoccupied behind a residence in the neighborhood. Contact was made at the residence and two male suspects were arrested without incident. The Ford was recovered in good condition with damage to the ignition. Marijuana debris was found inside the Ford with indications that the suspects had used the vehicle to transport a large amount of marijuana. The Ford was impounded and secured at the Pinal County Property and Evidence yard for processing. Both suspects were arrested and booked for the theft of the Ford and other felony charges.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 in December 2009 at Berge Ford in Mesa, Arizona.
