LoJack System Helps Philadelphia Police Department Recover a Stolen Honda Accord

The owner of a 2008 Honda Accord reports that her residence was burglarized and during the course of inventorying her possessions, she discovered that her vehicle keys were missing. The Honda owner checked outside her residence and discovered that her vehicle was also missing. The owner called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched a uniformed officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and then surveyed the area for the Honda. When the officer was unable to locate the Honda a stolen vehicle report was prepared and taken to Philadelphia Police 6th District HQ. The stolen vehicle information was then entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later an investigator of the Philadelphia PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the signal to the area of 8800 Ridge Avenue. The investigator observed the parked Honda and cautiously approached same to discover that the vehicle was unoccupied. The officer made the proper notifications and the Honda was confiscated.

This incident remains under investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in June 2011 at Piazza Honda of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
