The owners of a 2008 Chevrolet 2500 contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The truck was parked inside of a gated construction area in the 5000 block of East Charleston. The employee in the gated area observed a couple of juveniles trying to climb over the fence but one had gotten his pants stuck in the fence. As the employee assisted the male who was stuck the other got in the Chevrolet truck and started it with the keys, which were left in the ignition. When the guard got the first male free from the fence he ran to the truck and got in it. Both males then left in the truck.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

8 minutes later troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol and officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers tracked the truck to the parking lot of an apartment complex near the intersection of Karen and Sahara. The Chevrolet was found to be unoccupied and unharmed. The Chevrolet was recovered and returned back to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet 2500 in March 2008 through Commercial Sales.
