LoJack System Helps Highland Park Police Department Recover Stolen Ford Mustang

The owners of a 2001 Ford Mustang contacted the Hamtramck Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence. The owners discovered that one set of keys were missing and were unsure where they may have been.
The Hamtramck PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
A short while later officers with the Highland Park Police Department and troopers from the Michigan State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers determined that the stolen Ford was moving.
A K-9 officer from the Highland Park PD tracked the Ford to a residential area on the border of Detroit. Four persons were observed in the stolen Ford. A felony stop was conducted and the operator and three occupants were removed and detained.
All four of the occupants were arrested for not only being in possession of the stolen Ford but several felony warrants including aggravated robbery. The stolen Ford was impounded and illegal narcotics (cocaine, heroin and marijuana) were confiscated as evidence. This matter is to be further investigated by the Highland Park PD.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in June 2002 at Jerome Duncan Ford in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
