LoJack System Helps Santa Clara County Vehicle Theft Task Force and San Jose Police Department Recover Stolen Chevrolet Silverado 2500

The owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 contacted the South San Francisco Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated they discovered the Chevrolet missing from the parking garage of a hotel in the 700 block of Airport Blvd. The South San Francisco PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short time later, officers from the Santa Clara County Vehicle Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Chevrolet to the residential area of 8th Street and Margaret Street in the city of San Jose, where the vehicle was found parked at the curb, unoccupied.  Surveillance was set up on the Chevrolet but no suspects were located. The San Jose Police Department was contacted by the task force to recover the Chevrolet.

The stolen Chevrolet was recovered and was towed/stored to be released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 in August 2006 at Rotolo Chevrolet in Fontana, California.
