The owners of a 2016 Nissan Sentra contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from the driveway of their west side residence.

The owner had inadvertently left an extra set of keys in a backpack that was in the front seat of the Nissan.  Sometime during the night unknown suspects had entered the Nissan, discovered the keys and drove off with it.

The Cleveland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later officers from the Cleveland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers determined the Nissan was on the east side of Cleveland and travelling west on the interstate.  Information was passed on to the Ohio State Highway Patrol and troopers tracked the Nissan to a residential area on the west side where it was now parked and abandoned.

Because of the quick recovery the suspects were unable to strip the auto or use it to commit additional crimes.  The owners responded to the scene and the stolen Nissan was released to them.

The LoJack® System was pre-installed in the Nissan Sentra in September 2016 at Airport Infiniti in Cleveland, Ohio.
