The owner of a 2005 Jaguar XJ contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Foothill Division to report that her vehicle was stolen.  According to the victim, she may have dropped the keys as she exited the Jaguar in a parking lot.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jaguar XJ.

A short while later officers from the LAPD North Hollywood Division were patrolling the area of Lankershim and Oxnard when they picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jaguar with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers obtained the description when they observed a black Jaguar pulling into a service station on the corner. Positive identification was obtained via vehicle license. The officers pulled into the station lot and detained the suspect without further incident.  When questioned about the incident, the suspect told the officers he had borrowed the Jaguar from a friend.  The suspect was subsequently booked for the theft of the Jaguar. The Jaguar was later released to the victim at the North Hollywood station.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jaguar XJ in October 2006 at Walters Mercedes Porsche in Riverside, California.
