The owner of a 2016 Acura MDX discovered that his unlocked vehicle was missing from the driveway of his residence.  He contacted the Chapel Hill Police Department to report that his Acura was stolen.

The Chapel Hill PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

A short while later, an officer from the Durham Police Department, which is approximately 15 miles from Chapel Hill, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Acura stopped at a traffic signal.  The officer followed the Acura until back up officers arrived and then performed the traffic stop.  During the traffic stop, a juvenile was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.  The Acura was recovered and returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura MDX in February 2016 at Crown Acura in Greensboro, North Carolina.
