The owner of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen while they were at a motel in the area of University and Menaul.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

An officer with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Chevrolet to an apartment complex in the area of Constitution and Pennsylvania.  The officer located the Chevrolet abandoned and parked in a parking stall.  The driver door lock was punched, the ignition damaged and the car stereo was removed.  The offender even removed the license plate, often times done in an attempt to hide the vehicle’s stolen status from law enforcement, but that attempt did not prevent the officer from recovering the stolen Tahoe.

The Chevrolet was processed for evidence by a Crime Scene Technician at the recovery scene.  The Chevrolet was towed from the scene for safekeeping to be returned to the owner at a later time.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe in December 2005 at Allen Gwynn Chevrolet in Glendale, California.
