The owners of a 2002 Ford F250 contacted the New Orleans Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their home in the Filmore neighborhood. They had parked the F250 the night before and secured it. That morning when they exited the residence they discovered the Ford had been stolen overnight. The owner stated that they were in possession of both keys for the truck.

The New Orleans PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

About 50 minutes later troopers from the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the troopers tracked the Ford to the Holy Cross neighborhood where it was discovered in the rear yard of an abandoned home.  The troopers also located a Ford F250 parked in the driveway of the residence which was identical to the stolen F250. That truck was purchased from an auto auction yard with heavy damage to the rear end. It was apparent that this recovery lead the troopers to a chop shop operation. The quick recovery of the stolen Ford F250 prevented the thieves from transforming the stolen F250 truck into the auction truck by replacing the body and vehicle identification number. The subject responsible for the operation was identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The owner was contacted by the Louisiana State Police and arrived on the scene to take possession of their Ford F250. They were extremely happy the LoJack® System helped the state police in getting their truck back so quick.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 in June 2005 at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, Texas.
