The owner of a 2004 GMC Yukon called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen from the area of Pan American Freeway and Montgomery.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC Yukon.

Within a short time after the activation, auto theft detectives with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC Yukon with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol and undercover vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the detectives determined the Yukon was mobile and tracked it through several Area Commands.

Detectives tracked the Yukon to a parking lot of a big box store in the area of Rio Bravo and Coors.  The Yukon was located in the back parking lot abandoned.  The Yukon’s driver door lock and ignition were damaged but no other obvious signs of damage were observed.  The Yukon was processed for evidence and towed from the scene for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Yukon in September 2004 at Power GMC in Scottsdale, Arizona.
