The owner of a 2016 Mercedes Benz S-550 arrived home and parked the car in their driveway inside their gated community, leaving the keys inside the car and the doors unlocked. The next morning when they attempted to take their children to school, they discovered their Mercedes missing. The owner contacted the Coral Gables Police Department to report their Mercedes stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

Later in the day an Auto Theft Task Force investigator picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen S-550 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The investigator began tracking the stolen Mercedes by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The investigator, along with their backup from the Coral Gables PD auto theft unit, located the 4-door sedan abandoned in the 3700 block of NW 23rd Avenue, Miami. Surveillance was established. After several hours the surveillance was terminated with negative results. The Mercedes was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and released to the owner, who responded to the scene.

The owner of the Mercedes was amazed in how quick the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was able to recover their stolen Mercedes and is now a true believer in the LoJack® System.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 Mercedes Benz S-550 in September 2015 at Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables in Florida.
